Welcome to Linux for beginners!

In this and the following lessons, we’ll guide you through the intricacies of Linux with an interactive command line! Excited? Let’s begin by taking a look at our terminal:

  • Our first encounter on the Linux command line is with the welcome message. It warmly greets us, showcasing essential information.

  • Just beneath that, we can see what we call the command prompt, it looks something like this: username@hostname:~$. This is the space were we can type various commands and instruct our terminal to complete one task or another.

What exactly is a command you ask? Click the “continue” button to find out.
